  1. OK Brian - I'm gonna take a shot at these.

    1) I think he was fulfilling prophecy from Jeremiah 17:13 regarding the judgment of the Jewish nation. Jesus most likely wrote the names of the those who had forsaken him, the "Living Water".

    2) Ruth

    3) The apostle Paul reminds all of us that even one parent or grandparent can have a major influence on a family. Lois is Timothy's grandmother (the only grandmother mentioned as a grandmother in the Bible)and Eunice is his mother. His father was a Gentile and didn't believe in Jesus Christ. Yet Lois (grandma)and Eunice (mom) taught Timothy in the OT scriptures, and had a major influence on his faith. Paul even mentions their influence on Timothy as a young man and because of the positive choices Lois made Timothy went on to become one of the early ministers of the church and was Paul's faithful companion. Paul even called Timothy his "spiritual son" and "beloved son". Lois shaped Timothy's beliefs and he was blessed by his grandmother's (and mother's) faithfulness to Jesus Christ.

  2. Nice job, Jim. For question number 1, I was looking for a simple answer - Jesus wrote in the sand to diffuse the situation. But, like a great Bible scholar, you came up to the plate and gave me something I did not think about.

Questions 2 and 3 are exactly correct! Thanks for the additional work with Timothy. I appreciate the visual example of our parents and grandparents serving as mentors in our lives.

    Thanks, Jim!
