  1. I'm back. :))

    1) Turning water into wine
    2) Abraham debates with God over Sodom and Gomorrah
    3) Paul calls out Peter for nullifying Paul's divine teaching. Paul lays down one of the most dynamic statements in the NT in verse 16 when he says that "a man is not justified by oberving the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ". Paul is clearly stating here the doctrine of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ. Paul concludes this great passage by saying in verse 21 "...if righteousness could be gained through the law, then Christ died for nothing!".

Salvation by grace alone through faith alone - that's the significance of Galations 2: 11-21.

  2. Nice job, Jim! You got all three correct. In addition, I have a couple of comments for you to think about.

First, you answered the first question correctly.

Second, there are a number theologians that believe Abraham actually spoke with Jesus in the Genesis 18:16-33 (evidence of Jesus in the Old Testament). Something interesting for additional study. :-)

Third, you could preach that Galatians 2 account, Jim! I want to hear that message! To take it even deeper, Paul is addressing Peter's hypocrisy. We read in Acts 10 and 11 how Peter went to the house of Cornelius (a Gentile) and ministered to the "unclean" people. When only looking at the passages in Acts, we believe that Peter has changed 100% with his feelings towards the Gentiles. When looking at Galatians 2, we can see that Peter is a lot like us and often falls back into old, spiritual habits. Interesting and amazing information!

Thanks for going deep with me, Jim!

  3. Hey Brian,

On #2 I'll do some additional study - I find that hypothesis interesting...

On #3 I agree with you on Paul addressing Peter's hypocrisy. I read about it in my MacArthur Bible Commentary!!!
