Wednesday's Brian Teaser

Good afternoon on this great Wednesday! We just experienced a nice Labor Day weekend. Many people see family and visit friends. Often, the weekend is the last opportunity to visit a cabin or take a trip at the end of summer.

Can you tell me how Labor Day became a holiday on our calendar?

Thanks for playing!

  1. A NY carpenter and a NJ machinist suggested it in 1882 to honor American workers and it was first celebrated in NYC (only). It spread quickly and in 1894 President Grover Cleveland declared it a national holiday.
