Wednesday's Brian Teaser

Every Easter, my mom's side of the family will get together to celebrate the holiday. Aside from all the candy bunnies, jelly beans, and chocolate covered eggs, my grandfather always makes a traditional stew. Can you tell me the name of this stew?

Hint #1: It is Polish.

Hint #2: The stew is reddish/purple thanks to one of its main ingredients.

Prize to the winner!

  2. Peasant's stew, which is typically either bacon and cabbage stew or sausage and bean stew.

  3. No. I will wait for another person to guess before I give another clue...

  4. Ok, I'm taking a complete whim here...

is it "Barcscz"? The Polish call it that but Ukranians call it "Borshch" and it is a Ukranian Russian beet soup. That would fit the reddish/purple color description.

  5. Ok I'm pretty sure he uses a cranberry horseradish so I'm just going to say a cranberry horseradish stew? Maybe a relish stew?

  6. Gretchen got it! We call it Borscht and look forward to it every year. It is especially good with sour cream in it!
